Our Swimmers

Our swimmers, from the very young to the not-so-young are the essence of State Swim.

This is where we celebrate their achievements.

For some it may be a long-awaited promotion to the next class, completing a Superswim, achieving a personal best time, attempting the State Swim Challenge or competing in State, National or International swim meets.

For others it may be overcoming a life long fear of water, starting a fitness regime or even gaining pain relief through swimming or aquatic exercise programs.

The common thread that binds them all is a positive atmosphere which promotes support and friendship and encourages each swimmer to be the best that they can be.....

Here are their stories....

Emma Shines Again…..

Norwood swimmer Emma Siddle has stolen the spotlight yet again!!!

Emma was selected in the Swimming SA 2012-2013 'Age Group Talent Development Squad' - the only 11 year old female selected for the squad.

At the recent State Long Course Course Championships (Jan 22nd - 25th 2013) Emma competed in the 11 & under female division.  What a special meet!!!  Emma came home with an impressive 9 Gold, 2 Silver and 1 Bronze medals....added to that, she broke and re-broke her own 100m Backstroke state record twice at this meet.  A truly stunning effort!!!
The absolute hightlight for Emma was being presented with the 'Female Swimmer of the Meet' award at the end of the Championships.  A fitting accolade for her success!!!

Emma is looking forward to representing SA in the National Christian Schools Games to be held in May and hoping to be selected for the School Sport Swimming Championships in September.

Emma's next goal is to achieve National Qualifying time - she is closing in on this with a few of these times, her 100m Backstroke only .6 off qualifying.

Watch this space - we look forward to following Emma in her endeavours and applaud her spectacular achievements!!!!

Emma Strikes Gold!!!

Dedicated Norwood swimmer Emma Schenk's hard work has paid off!!! In the State Age Short Course Championships held at the SA Aquatic and Leisure Centre last month, she scooped the pool with a tally of 5 gold medals!!!

It's obvious that breaststroke is Emma's preferred stroke, winning the 50m, 100m and 200m events.  She also won the 50m freestyle and 100m individual medley as well as earning a bronze medal in the 100m freestyle.  Being very competitive, Emma was delighted to have medalled in every event in which she competed - a fantastic achievement!!!

Emma, now 12, began swimming at the age of 4 and has enjoyed it so much that she has continued on and is now training six days a week to achieve her goals - certainly a big work load fo her and her parents!!!  Her eyes are now firmly fixed on the Nationals and, looking towards the future, Commonwealth Games and eventually the Olympics!!!

Well done Emma...we look forward to following you on your swimming journey.....
